The painting of plastics

Many plastic parts, particularly moulded parts and structural shapes, are coated for decoration and sometimes protection. However, due to the low surface energy caused by the lack of polar group, the adhesion of paints to plastics is problematic. A plasma treatment, mainly using oxygen, generates radicals and polar groups enabling good adhesion of the coating.
