Solder

« Back to Glossary Index

Assembly of two metal parts using metallic solders or melted alloys. Due to the lower melting temperature of the solder compared to that of the parts to be assembled, the latter do not melt (in contrast to brazing). Habitually, welding is applied with a de-oxidant flux. If necessary, soldering is done under an inert gas.
