Plastic

Common name designating materials composed of organic macro-molecules produced by chemical synthesis or by modification of existing material. Plastics may be cast or formed under certain conditions of heat and pressure, they are corrosion resistant and they are only very slightly or not biodegradable. They possess good qualities in terms of thermal, phonic and electric insulation. Plastics can be painted, coloured and metallised.
